CP Ojo Adekimi Assures Kwarans of Peaceful Christmas, Deploys Personnel to Strategic Locations
Ojo Adekimi, the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, has extended warm greetings to all residents as the Christmas and New Year celebrations draw nearer, reaffirming the Command's commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure festive period.
To guarantee security, the Commissioner announced that the Command has implemented additional measures and reiterated key guidelines for public safety.
The Command has deployed police personnel to strategic communities, critical infrastructure, markets, worship centres, motor parks, and major public spaces across the State. Furthermore, joint surveillance and intelligence-sharing operations are ongoing to maintain vigilance and deter any security breach.
The use, sale, and distribution of fireworks, bangers, and other explosive devices remain strictly prohibited. The Commissioner noted that these items can cause panic, trigger false alarms, and serve as a cover for criminal activities, warning that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.
The restriction on motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Napep) between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. remains in full effect. This regulation, the police boss stated, continues to play a crucial role in reducing night-time crimes and enhancing community safety.
The Police boss, in a statement signed by Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, urged members of the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring that, "we are fully committed to maintaining peace and the security of all residents throughout the festive season and beyond." He promised that any information relevant to public safety would be communicated promptly through official Command channels.
