The Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State has decided to immortalise Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki by naming its just completed stadium in the council area after him.

Speaking with newsmen at the council area's headquarters, Kosubosu, the Excecutive Chairman, Alhaji Lafia Aliyu Kara Sabi said the late political leader deserved to be continuously remembered for his contributions to the development of Kwara State in particular and Nigeria at large.

The Chairman, who later declared open the First Olusola Saraki Memorial Cup Soccer Competition among youths in the area, said, "organizing a soccer competition of this kind to always remember the great man of Kwara politics is not too much," even as he added that this championship should not be seen as a mere civic reception.

The Excecutive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulFattah Ahmed, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matter, Alhaji Abdulkareem Ilobu commended the chairman and the people of the council area for organising the sports competition, while charging the player to show their best and be discovered as the future stars.

In the opening march, the host Baruten defeated the visiting team from Oke-Ero Local Government Area 2-0.
