Fans of Nigeria National League (NNL) side Kwara United on Sunday gathered en mass to offer their support for the club's gaffer, Samson Unuanel and charged the experienced trainer to return the Afonja Warriors at the end of the current season.

It was a colourful and memorable ceremony held at the indoor sports hall of the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin in which the club's supporters used the medium to launch their almanac for this season.

Since the creation of Kwara United in 1997, no coach had the chance of working more than a season, but Unuanel entered the history book of the Ilorin-based club as he was retained this term.

While speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the Kwara United supporters fans club, Alhaji Idowu Suleiman, vowed that his crew would do everything possible to make sure that United return to the Premier League.

"Unuanel is a good coach, and that's the reason we organised this occasion to honour his contribution since he became our coach.

"The coach (Unuanel) was not the reason we were relegated last season, and that was why we all clamoured that he should lead us back to the top flight," Suleiman said to supersport.com at the ceremony.

While responding to the award given to him, Unuanel doled out the sum of N200 000 to the supporters club.

"I am happy with the award the Kwara fans gave me, and I want to promise them that we will return back to the Premier League at the end of this season," Unuanel said happily at the ceremony.

Kwara United will travel to Katsina-Ala to face Spotlight FC on Wednesday. The Afonja Warriors are second on the NNL Group A Standings.
