Don't allow insurgency in Kwara, Jonathan tells emir
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday urged the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, not to allow insurgency creep into Kwara State, charging him not to allow anti-social behaviours that could undermine peace.
He was speaking during a visit to the emir in his palace when he visited the state for a rally in honour of new and returning members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Jonathan, who commended the emir for the peace existing in his domain, said he had a role to play to sustain the peaceful coexistence existing among people of the state.
The president who visited with Vice President Namadi Sambo, some ministers and governors, thanked the emir for working with the government to ensure peace, saying he was not in Kwara to campaign but to support PDP members in their struggle for freedom. He said he would soon return to Kwara for proper campaign for the next general election.
The emir described Kwara as the gateway to North and South of Nigeria and assured the president that no effort would be spared towards sustaining peace. He described the victory of President Jonathan in the last presidential election as an act of God and prayed God to enable him achieve his next ambition peacefully.
