Ilorin: Concern over Orisunmibare Road
The condition of the Laola Junction-Orisunbare road is generating serious concern among motorists and pedestrians plying the route, City Rove can report.
The road which sits a few inches below the railway has been damaged by flood water, sluiced down from the upper side of it due to lack of drainage.
City Rove observed that because the road lacks drainage on both sides, flood water sweeps its top soil, creating wide potholes which have made the road almost impassable.
Dirt washed down the side of the road (towards the entrance of the street) have created disgusting stench to passersby.
Similarly, the contaminated water that floods through the dirt to a few buildings close by was noted to be posing threat to the occupants.
Ola who lives at Orisunbare and passes through the debris noted that living condition of residents of the houses close to it would be much better if the government comes to 'our aid by tarring the road and constructing drainage for us'.
She further informed that sometimes, motorists do not like going beyond a water way that lacks culvert in the area because the vehicle can be damaged or stuck at the point.
Aside that, City Rove observed that often times, vehicle had been stuck in the muddy part of the road and would have to be forced out by good Samaritans.
Also speaking, the chairman of the community, Apostle Ige, prayed the state government to construct the Orisunbare road through Estate in Sango so that the residents in the far part of the community would not have to come out through Laola Junction at Maraba before they can turn to places like Sango.
However, our reporter observed the road behind the rail needs at least five culverts. It needs to be graded to ease vehicle movement.
