Date: 2012-08-18

The Kwara Government has inaugurated a committee that would write the history of the state and its people.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee was charged with the writing of a comprehensive book on the history of the people of the state since 1914.

Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the Secretary to the State Government, while inaugurating the committee on Friday, said that the book would entail the political, economic and socio-cultural patterns of the people.

He charged them to work assiduously to complete the work on time.

Dr Raimi Olaoye, chairman of the committee, gave the assurance that the committee would do a thorough job and produce a book that would be acceptable to all stakeholders.

He said that the committee would meet with the traditional rulers, leaders of thoughts and custodians of history for their contributions.

Olaoye thanked the government for the opportunity given them to serve in that capacity. (NAN)
