Logistics stall Ilorin police intelligence school take-off
The take-off of Nigeria Police Intelligence School in Ilorin, Kwara State has been stalled by logistics, legal and administrative issues, it has been revealed.
Acting Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, had during a courtesy visit to Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on February 10, said academic activities would begin in three months.
He said the school, when fully operational, would operate according to international standards.
Abubakar had inspected the Police Training College, Ilorin, where he said the school would be located.
But since then, the school has yet to start, causing many residents of Ilorin metropolis to wonder whether the police were serious about the project.
But Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, told our correspondent on the telephone that there were some logistics, legal and administrative issues delaying the commencement of the school.
He, however, said the force was very hopeful that the school would soon take off. He added that the force had gone very far in resolving the challenges.
According to him, the police school will be run in partnership with many international intelligence agencies and police formations, hence the need and so there was the need to tidy up all issues for good take-off and sustainability.
Mba said, "The challenges are unforeseen issues. There are some logistics, legal as well as administrative issues that were not foreseen. Opening a school requires so many administrative issues that bureaucracy had actually slowed down."
