OPINION: Operation Restore Kwara: An Appeal to Kwarans. By Abdullahi Imam Abdullahi

As you are all aware, Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed gave instructions yesterday, 14/08/2014 to the Kwara State University to cancel departmental fees and issue refunds to students for the ones already collected in the present academic session. This shows that our efforts at ending the pervasive impunity in Kwara state are yielding fruits. But this is just the beginning, we shall continue to hold this government and subsequent one accountable so that Kwarans can benefit richly from democratic rule.

As I stated earlier, our work has just begun, we will not settle for tokenism from the Ahmed administration. Our goal is clear, we are committed to mobilizing a critical mass of Kwarans to vote out this anti – people government and usher in a government of their own. This is where you come in.

If you are a resident, you have to do everything within your power to exchange your temporary voters' cards for the permanent voters' card that will be given by the independent national electoral commission starting today, Friday 15/08/2014. The exercise is billed to last till Sunday 17/08/2014.

If you are a resident but do not have a temporary voters card, you have an opportunity to register in the Continuous Voters' Registration (CVR) exercise which is expected to follow immediately beginning from August 20 to 25, 2014. This will afford you the opportunity to obtain your permanent voters' card.

If you are a resident but have lost your temporary voters card, you have an opportunity to collect a new card. Register in the Continuous Voters' Registration (CVR) exercise and obtain your permanent voters' card.

If you are a new resident that just relocated from another state, you have an opportunity to register in the Continuous Voters' Registration (CVR) exercise and to obtain your permanent voters' card.

If you are a Kwaran resident in another part of the country or overseas, you have a responsibility to call your relatives back home to obtain their permanent voters cards through the process that I have described above.

Remember, if you insist that Bukola Saraki and AbdulFatah Ahmed have not governed well, the only recourse that you have to remove them from the continued ruination of Kwara is through the ballot box. By encouraging your kith and kin to obtain their permanent voters' cards, you are also doing your part towards the reclamation of Kwara.
