Money paid into Oliha's brother account intact - Wife
Despite alleged crisis rocking the family of the late Super Eagles midfielder, Thompson Oliha, over the sharing of the property and finance of the fallen Nigerian footballer, one of his wives, Ajara, has said the family is united, insisting that there was no fighting over the former Insurance player's belongings.
Oliha, who died on June 30, is survived by two wives, Ajara and Iris, and a son and daughter from both women.
It was reported that the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner was almost buried close to the toilet behind his house until concerned family members and relatives were said to have insisted on him being buried on the corridor of his house in Upper Sakponba, Benin City on July 27.
The family allegedly wanted to bury the USA 1994 World Cup star behind his house so that they could sell the property. Another story has it that members of Oliha's family were also asking for the release of the documents of the property of the former Turkey-based star but Ajara refuted all the claims.
"We just finished the burial ceremony and nobody in the family is even talking about sharing our husband's property," Ajara told our correspondent on the telephone.
"There is no truth in the stories going round that the family wants to sit on Thompson's property and also appropriate to itself the money given by the Edo and Kwara states governments.
"We've heard stories that Thompson's elder brother, Ayo, wants to take charge of his property; that is not true. The man wants the best for his brother's children and he has not touched a dime from the money given to the children of his late brother.
"The money that Edo FA paid into his (Ayo) account is N200, 000 and the money is still intact and untouched. The family wants the best for the children and they have not shared anything belonging to the children."
Ajara said the entire family agreed that the money be paid into Ayo's account so that they (Oliha's wives and children) could have a general purse.
"Would it be nice if we start using different accounts now? He (Ayo) is like a father to the children and that is why we agreed that the money be paid into his account and it is intact," Ajara added.
