British Council visits schools in Kwara
Mr. Olugbenga Sowunmi, the council's Examination Service Officer, told newsmen in Ilorin that the visit was to build relations with schools in the state.
Sowunmi said the visit was also to discuss the establishment of a Teacher Development Programmes involving workshops for improved teaching in schools.
"The British Council's objectives are to build relations with schools in the state in order to afford children the opportunity to gain entrance into Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
"The council would also give teaching resources as well as teacher training which will improve school curriculum," he said.
Sowunmi said some of the schools inspected for the Cambridge Examinations included Thomas Adewunmi College, Oko, and Roemichs International School, Ilorin.
Reacting to the visit, Alhaji Abuabakar Mohammed, the Director of Quality Assurance Bureau (QAB), commended the British Council's contribution to improved education in the state.
He said government would offer necessary support to enable the council establish its presence in the state, being a melting pot for the middle-belt.
Mohammed also called on the council to include public schools in its programme as well as offer scholarship to students
