OPINION: Open letter to BSV. By Dele Dada
I am indeed very happy to join BSV on Facebook. I always appreciate you with all your online & physical seminars. This is an important initiative that will provide a forum not only for improving the well being of members, but also articulating and addressing the challenges facing the youth here in Kwara State and in our country at large.
I am encouraged to note that since your (BSV) appearance on facebook late 2011; BSV have attracted many members, I am optimistic that other young people in my constituency (Offa) will join the Group in order to make it stronger and all-inclusive. Indeed, I challenge the youth who are yet to enlist with the group to do so in order to benefit from its youth empowerment seminars & workshop. I also challenge young people in other constituencies to team up in addressing the challenges of youths unemployment facing them.
I am also encouraged to note, that Bukola Saraki Vanguard has demonstrated practical readiness to address not only the concerns of the Kwara youths, but also the challenges facing our country's youths as a whole. I am gratified to learn that on the 14th, February this year at NUCBUL hotel GRA Ilorin Kwara State, more than 100 Youth leaders across the 16 local gvt of Kwara State assemble in a program organized by BSV and tagged “THE GOVERNMENT AND THE GOVERN” with the presence of S.A youth to the Governor as the lead Speaker. I commend the Group most sincerely for this effort and urge you to uphold and continue in the same spirit.
I am aware that besides contributions by individual members, BSV rely on the support of well-wishers to mobilize resources needed to achieve the objectives of eradication of youth joblessness in our society. I take this opportunity to pledge my readiness to support your group, I also take this opportunity to appeal to leaders, businessmen and others to extend support to the group and other youth groups in kwara State with likes objectives.
Be that as it may,the youth constitute the largest segment of our society. 75 per cent of our population is below 30 years of age. The youth, therefore, comprise the critical mass of human resource needed for development in our State and Country as a whole. Indeed, no meaningful national development can be achieved without the involvement of the youth.
It is imperative, therefore, that we all join hands to address the challenges constraining the development of the full potential of our young people. While there are many challenges facing the youth, the creation of adequate employment opportunities represents the most critical challenge. I agree with the class of people that believe that Gov. Fatah Ahmed is not only one of the best governor in this dispensation but the best thing to have happen to Kwara State at the moment.
