Governor AbdulRahmab AbdulRazaq Invites Investors to Explore Opportunities in Kwara
The Kwara State Government has called on local and international investors to explore opportunities in agriculture, tourism, healthcare and the creative economy to boost economic growth and create jobs.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made the call at the Nigeria Investment Forum 2026 in New York, United States.
The forum, organised under the auspices of the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York, was themed "Connecting Capital to Opportunity: Investing in Africa's Next Frontier." The governor's presentation was titled "Partnering for Sustainable Growth and Shared Prosperity."
AbdulRazaq said his administration was consolidating investments in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education and renewable energy to strengthen the state's economy and attract private capital.
He said the government was prioritising rural road construction to improve farmers' access to markets, while agro-industrial hubs and processing facilities would boost productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and promote value addition.
According to him, manufacturing zones and entrepreneurship support programmes were also designed to expand commercial activities and help farmers transition from subsistence farming to structured, market-oriented agriculture.
On healthcare, the governor highlighted investments in modern diagnostic imaging and hospital capacity to improve access to specialist services and reduce the need for residents to seek medical treatment outside the state.
He identified education and innovation as key drivers of development, citing the expansion of university satellite campuses and innovation hubs to improve access to skills and opportunities across local government areas.
AbdulRazaq said tourism, hospitality and the creative industry also offered investment opportunities, pointing to the international conference centre, hospitality assets and film production infrastructure as initiatives aimed at positioning Kwara as a destination for commerce, culture and entertainment.
He noted that the state's location between Nigeria's northern and southern regions provided access to major economic corridors and opportunities to reach wider markets.
The governor said the next phase of development would focus on expanding existing infrastructure and scaling up agro-processing, tourism, hospitality, healthcare, real estate and creative industries to meet growing demand and international standards.
He called for stronger partnerships with international development organisations and private-sector operators, stressing that collaboration was essential to expanding the state's economic capacity and creating sustainable prosperity.
"Kwara is not a state that promises. Kwara is a state that delivers," he said.
AbdulRazaq urged investors and development partners to work with the state government to harness its economic potential.
