Sagbe Monarch Appeals for Military Intervention as Bandits Empty Seven Kwara Communities
Oba Isiaka Sadiku Lawal, traditional ruler of Sagbe community near Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has issued an urgent appeal to the state government, the local government chairman, and the Commander of the Nigerian Army at Sobi Cantonment, pleading for immediate rescue of communities under sustained attack by armed bandits.
In a viral audio message, the monarch listed the seven affected communities as Ologoma, Ajegunle, Igbo-Agbon, Alabadera, Owode, Alasoro, and Alawo. He confirmed that residents have fled these areas out of fear for their lives, leaving the villages completely deserted.
He added that bandits had further invaded Bankole community near Sagbe, killing one person, stealing cattle, and abducting an unconfirmed number of residents.
Oba Lawal disclosed that Sagbe has no police post or security presence, and while local vigilantes have made efforts to defend the area, their attempts have been unsuccessful.
He appealed for the urgent deployment of soldiers, Department of State Services (DSS) personnel, and other security forces to halt the wave of violence and restore safety to the region.
