Ilorin Emirate Mourns the Departure of Alhaji Yahaya Olayiwola Ajia at 80
The Ilorin Emirate is in mourning as it bids farewell to a distinguished community leader, Alhaji Yahaya Olayiwola Ajia, who passed away peacefully on the night of Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the remarkable age of 80. His death marks the end of an era for a family deeply rooted in the cultural and social fabric of Ilorin.
Alhaji Yahaya was known as one of the last surviving sons of the late Alhaji Muhammadu Kuranga Ajia, the 5th Ajia Saka Saka of Ilorin. Revered for his integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to service, he leaves behind a profound legacy, cherished by both his family and the community he devoted his life to.
In accordance with Islamic traditions, Alhaji Yahaya was laid to rest on Wednesday morning at the Muslim Cemetery in Ilorin. A Fidau prayer was held to honor his remarkable life.
Alhaji Yahaya is survived by his children, including Dr. Abdulmumin Yinka Ajia, an Associate Professor of Business Administration and Director of the MBA Program at Lincoln University, USA, along with numerous grandchildren who carry on his legacy.
The family extends an open invitation to friends, relatives, and well-wishers to join them in the Fidau prayer, as they come together to celebrate the life of a man who served as a beacon of virtue in the Ilorin Emirate.
The community mourns the loss of Alhaji Yahaya, praying that Almighty Allah grants him Al-Jannah Firdausi and provides solace to all who grieve his passing.
