2023: You are day-dreaming - Gov AbdulRazaq's aide on Saraki's plan to retake power
Special Adviser on Political Communications to the Kwara State Governor, Malam Bashir Adigun says the people of the State have resolved never to go back to Egypt under the servitude of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its tin 'god', Bukola Saraki.
Reacting to the former Senate President's outburst on Kwara politics on Tuesday, in a statement in Ilorin, titled '2023: Bukola Saraki's Delusion of Grandeur', Adigun declared that the people of Kwara State would never return to the political slavery of the Bukola Saraki-led dynasty, despite propaganda and deception by the former Senate President.
"We read the statement credited to him in one of the National Newspapers dreaming of his party's return to Kwara State Government House in next year's general elections.
"We sympathize with Saraki in his delusion and failure to realize that Kwarans now know the difference between the perpetual political slavery of his era and exemplary benevolent leadership under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq where the future of their children and grandchildren is assured.
"It is a pity that a man who had a rare opportunity (on a platter of gold) to transform the State as a governor in eight years and revered leader of his party for 16 years frittered away the opportunities by resorting to pillaging the resources of the State would have the temerity to say his party will return to power," he added.
"Do we need to remind the displaced leader of the dynasty that under his watch the infrastructure of the State collapsed?
"The people of Kwara will not forget how primary health care was destroyed because the State refused to pay its own counterpart funding with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
"Under his watch, Primary and secondary schools were in ruins across the State, while teachers were owed for several months because the State government under the Peoples Democratic Party failed to fulfill its obligation to the Universal Basic Education Commission," he added.
The Special Adviser further stated that Kwara civil servants became demoralized because their salaries were not regular and were paid in bits in what they called 'Geri Gedii'.
Adigun said, "today, the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is paying N30,000 minimum wage, unlike his predecessor who could not pay N18,000 minimum wage.
"Besides, retirees are now being paid their gratuities and pensions with ease unlike in the past," adding that the administration is also building the necessary infrastructure to attract local and foreign investments.
According to him, "the people of Kwara now know the difference between a government that held their destiny in the pocket of one man revered by members of the Peoples Democratic Party as a tin god and a government that is ensuring that their children have a better tomorrow by going to good public schools, have access to quality health care delivery, have good roads and a better civil service with improved welfare of workers."
