Kwarans in Diaspora to Partner State Govt on Education - Gov Ahmed
Kwarans in Diaspora are to team up with the Kwara State Government in the enhancement of the quality of education in the State.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said this on Thursday on arrival from the United Kingdom where he had participated at the first Convention of Kwara State Association of Nigeria, United Kingdom and Ireland, (KWASANG). Governor Ahmed said the convention provided a platform for intimating Kwarans in the United Kingdom and Ireland with the developmental strides of his administration in the State.
He added that the interface between the State Government and Kwarans in the United Kingdom and Ireland enabled both parties to identify potential areas of synergy in the education sector.
According to him, "we were able to know how much they were willing to contribute to what we are doing at home. The theme of the convention this year was premised on education. They had a holistic approach to education from basic to the tertiary level and how they could contribute their quota towards building a better Kwara".
Governor Ahmed disclosed that a joint secretariat would be established by the state government and Kwarans in Diaspora for the realization of better relationship between both parties for the good of the state.
On the flood which has ravaged parts of the country, Governor Ahmed said the relocation of flood prone communities to better grounds was a realistic option since the incidence of flooding has become a recurring decimal.
Governor Ahmed, however, cautioned that such relocation must take cognizance of the sources of livelihood of the communities.
