Kwara State to offset backlog of salaries

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed says the state government is collaborating with the sixteen local government councils to source four billion naira to offset outstanding local government salaries before the end of March.

Governor Ahmed stated this on Sunday at the monthly All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting, held at the banquet hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin.

He explained that monthly allocation is already souring up and the government would do everything possible to assist the councils in defraying outstanding salaries at the local government level.

Governor Ahmed also promised to release the list of board appointments with two hundred names this week to strengthen the operations of government parastatals and agencies.

According to him, appointment of Liaison Officers, Youth Empowerment Coordinators, Special Advisers, Special Assistants and Commissioners would be announced in the coming weeks.

Governor Ahmed also assured APC members that his government would work for the entire people of the state through inclusive process and improved welfare of the citizenry.

The governor informed the gathering that he had met with various stakeholders from Kwara Central Senatorial District to get their input on governance, promising that similar consultations would be extended to stakeholders from other parts of the state.

Infrastructure

Governor Ahmed said he recently inspected some ongoing capital projects which had reached advanced stages of completion and reassured the people that all ongoing projects would be completed before the end of the administration.

He said that the government is investing on solar system through the Light-up Kwara project, explaining that Solar Farm Tunnel at Fate in Ilorin would soon be completed to provide electricity for essential services.

The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Ishola had described Governor Ahmed as a listening Governor who is sensitive to the plight of the masses.
