Kwara Govt. to employ more health personnel
Kwara Government has resolved to employ more health workers in January toward solving the problem of inadequate health personnel in government hospitals.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulieman Alege, made this known during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.
He said the state's Civil Service Commission had been directed to work out modalities of the employment.
On the dearth of pharmacists in the state-owned health facilities, he explained that the vacuum was created due to retirement of some pharmacists.
He, however, said "we will soon employ more health workers like doctors, pharmacists, nurses, heath technicians and even hospital cleaners.
"The Civil Service Commission is currently looking at the facilities, where services of the personnel will be needed before the employment will be effected. Latest by January, the recruitment and deployment will be done," he said.
Alege explained that this was to solve the problem of inadequate health staff being experienced in the various hospitals.
According to him, patients who patronise state hospitals in the state have considerably increased due to repositioning of the health establishments by the state government.
He added that the recruitment of additional hands would bring tremendous relief to the medical staff that were currently being over stretched with long hours on duty by the increase in number of patients seeking for medical attention. (NAN).
