Ahmed rules out sack of Kwara workers

Date: 2014-12-26

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has assured that despite dwindling revenue from the federation account, the state would not reduce its workforce.

He said the state government would rather be prudent and resourceful in the management of resources at its disposal, pledging that development would spread to every part of the state without political or other considerations.

Ahmed spoke at a Town Hall meeting in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state where the people promised to vote for his re-election next year.

The participants said despite the fact that the PDP candidate hails from the area, they would vote for Governor Ahmed. According to the governor, the present administration will continue to give priority to workers' welfare while at the same time delivering democracy dividends to the people.

"We will continue to be resourceful, just, prudent and deliver benefits of democracy to all people of our state," Ahmed said.

On the request for upgrade of traditional rulers in the state, Ahmed promised that more stools would be upgraded when the economy of local governments improved.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti Traditional Council has endorsed Ahmed for a second term as the governor of the state in the forthcoming election.

Chairman of the council and Olosi of Osi, Oba Salihu Abdulkareem Arowobeku, said the development initiatives of the administration, especially in Ekiti land made it imperative to return Ahmed as the governor of the state.
