Provost Laments Exclusion of Monotechnics from Tetfund

Date: 2013-03-19

Provost of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin, Dr. Abdus-Semi'i Arikewuyo, has lamented the delisting of monotechnic institutions from list of beneficiaries of Tertiary Education Fund (TETfund) saying the development is unfortunate.

Arikewuyo who decried this during the 20th year anniversary of the college noted that the college was able to embark on some projects in the past courtesy of TETfund intervention.

"It is rather unfortunate that all the monotechnic institutions in Nigeria (CAILS inclusive) are already being delisted from the scheme. It must be said that this is frightening and indeed threatening", he said.

He called on stakeholders especially lawmakers to intervene in this regard to help monotechnic colleges surmount their financial problems.

The provost said the college in its 20 years of existence has survived through the good will and support of the state government, individuals and corporate bodies.
