Personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with foreign security agents and the Nigerian Army, have arrested nearly 300 suspected kidnappers in a community in Kwara State.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended at Mechede, a Bororo/Fulani settlement located close to Oro-Ago in the Oro-Ago district of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Operatives of the DSS, who preferred to remain anonymous, claimed that they had been maintaining surveillance around the settlement for approximately one to two months prior to the operation.

It will be recalled that ongoing military operations in the Kwara South Senatorial District have resulted in the neutralisation of many bandits in the area. Meanwhile, other fleeing bandits attempting to escape to Ekiti State, which shares common boundaries with Kwara State, are being arrested.

Recently, sixteen of the suspected fleeing bandits were apprehended by security operatives in Ekiti State while attempting to cross into the territory. They were arrested with over 100 rustled cattle in a bid to escape the ongoing military onslaughts at their former bases in Kwara State.
