Man Shot by DPO is not Dead - Kwara CP
 
    
Kwara State police command has said that thorough investigations have commenced on the alleged shooting of a middle-aged man by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Railway police station, Offa.
  
It will be recalled that our sister publication, Saturday Tribune, published that the DPO allegedly shot the young man when he went to defecate near the police station on Friday morning.
Speaking with Sunday Tribune on Saturday, the Kwara state Commissioner of Police, Chinweke Asadu, said the young man allegedly shot by the DPO was not dead.
The police boss said the young man, who had come to Offa town to visit his brother, a spare parts seller at Owode market, is now receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Offa. 
Sunday Tribune gathered that the young man, who was shot on the leg suffered bleeding and became so weak, the development which made the relations of the young man to be
apprehensive thinking he had died due to the gunshot.
It was gathered that they trooped to the police station to express their grief and displeasure, while the wounded young man was taken to hospital.
The sad development made the spare parts sellers in the town, who are mostly Igbo, to troop to the police station to express their grief and displeasure.
Reports had it that some of the traders, who closed their shops to mourn their beloved brother when they learnt of the sad development, opened their shops for business later in the day.
The police commissioner, who assured that investigations into the matter would receive urgent and utmost attention necessary, added that nothing would be swept under the carpet. 
He commended the people of the area for their peaceful disposition on the incident and enjoined them to maintain law and order while urging them to sustain the regained peace and understanding already achieved for greater development of the area.
