Kwara CP Adekimi Ojo Promises Open Communication Channel to Boost Police-Media Collaboration
Kwara State Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a constructive relationship with journalists in the state, pledging improved communication channels to ensure transparent information flow.
The assurance was made during an interactive session with media practitioners held at the police officers' mess in Ilorin on Sunday. Commissioner Ojo emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the press, stating: "A seamless communication pathway will strengthen our partnership, enabling journalists to serve as effective bridges between the public and the police."
He highlighted the need for open dialogue to address security challenges and improve reporting accuracy. The event underscored the police's willingness to engage with media professionals to uphold press freedom and public trust.
Responding to issues raised by journalists at the session, the commissioner disclosed that the X- squad of the police command would be rejuvenated to monitor the conduct of officers and men of the command.
He explained that the parade of suspects by the police had been stopped in accordance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, because, "they are assumed to be innocent until convicted by the law courts."
Ojo urged the media to support the police in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, asserting that the achievements of the command could only be relayed through the media to the public.
In attendance were top police officers and Divisional Police Officers, DPOs.
