Court Orders Remand of Trio Accused of Gang-Raping Teen
According to a news report from Daily Trust, a Kwara State Magistrate Court based in Ilorin has directed the remand of three individuals, Toyin Toheeb (21), Jamiu Abdullah (18), and Aliu Mustapha (18), at the federal correctional center on allegations of gang-raping an 18-year-old girl, whose identity has been withheld.
The accused, serving as security guards at a private hostel in Malete, have been implicated in the reported crime, which was brought to light by Risikat Tanwa Saadu.
As per the police report, the incident occurred when the victim visited the Malete hostel to retrieve water. Allegedly, the suspects enticed her into the security room, where they engaged in "unprotected non-consensual sexual intercourse" with her.
Confessing to the crime, the suspects further corroborated the allegations made against them.
During the court proceedings, Sergeant Mayowa, the prosecutor, urged for the remand of the accused. Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki subsequently ordered their remand and scheduled the case for hearing on May 7th.
