Chairman of the ACN-controlled Offa Local Government Prince Saheed Popoola on Tuesday accused members of his dissolved cabinet of spreading falsehood against his person.

The sacked cabinet members had since defected to the PDP, a ground upon which the ACN called on them to resign their appointment before Saheed dissolved the cabinet in December last year.

Popoola said in a statement issued on Tuesday evening that the character assassination is part of the grand plot to victimise him after he repeatedly rejected the intimidation to quit the ACN "which was the platform our people have chosen to be."

The statement read: "I wish to alert the world to the unceasing intention of the PDP to give the dog a bad name in order to hang it. The latest in the futile plot is contained in the character assassination by former members of my cabinet who are now PDP members.

"Although I have since explained my own side of the story to the relevant authorities, these elements are now resorting to media blackmail to achieve their sinister plot. The agenda is to rid Kwara of any opposition by all foul means available. I urge the public to see their allegations as antics of desperate lots whose grievances are that I would not betray our people or retain them in the cabinet despite the many issues against them.
