The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulfatah Ahmed has described the multiple accidents in the State on the eve of sallah and on sallah day in which about 20 people lost their lives on Oloru- Jebba road, at a time the state was still nursing the wounds of the flooding in parts of the state, as shocking and unfortunate.

According to a statement by Abduwahab Oba, Chief Press Secretary, to the Kwara State Governor, in a condolence message to the families of the victims, he lamented that the accidents were indications of the urgent need for collaboration between the Federal and State Governments on the repair and maintenance of federal roads in the state.

The governor said the extent of poor states of federal roads traversing the length and breadth of the State had become so worrisome, that the federal government must act urgently and decisively.

"It has, therefore, become so imperative that there must be a synergy between the federal and state governments on the repair of federal roads through joint funding while the states should take over ownership of the roads for proper maintenance", the Governor added.

While assuring the people of the state that no efforts will be spared to fix the various roads across the state within the armpit of available resources, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed prayed God to give the families of those who died in the unfortunate accidents the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
