KWSG to increase incentives for teachers

Date: 2012-10-28

The Kwara State Government on Wednesday in Ilorin announced that it would increase incentives for teachers on its payroll.

The Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Education, Alhaji Lamidi Alabi, made the announcement on Wednesday in Ilorin in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Alabi said the measure would act as a check on the movement of teachers from the state.

He explained that the incentives would entail giving loans to teachers in various capacities and giving them training opportunities.

The permanent secretary said that government had already commissioned the Kwara Resource Centre to train and produce the right calibre of teachers for the state.

Alabi said that 500 teachers had already received training in the centre, adding that the capacity acquired would enable them to teach effectively.
