ACPN sacks party officials in 5 states

Date: 2018-01-31

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has dissolved the State Executive Committees of Kwara, Osun, Anambra, Borno and Benue States for alleged anti-party activities.

Ganiyu Galadima, the ACPN National Chairman, who spoke with journalists at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, announced the reconstitution of a caretaker committee for Kwara State chaired by Issa Aremu.

Galadima said the dismissed Osun State party officials backed the candidates of the ruling APC in the just concluded local government elections against the wish of the ACPN.

"As we prepare towards the 2019 general elections, the preparations must take cognisance of some people that are neither there nor here. So, some people who have been causing our setbacks as a party should be sent out of the way.

"That is the reason why the NWC of the party sacks some state excos of the party in five states who have been engaging in anti-party activities, starting from Kwara, Osun, Anambra, Borno and Benue States.

"For instance, that of Osun State, in the last local government election, you recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stayed away from the election. Some aspirants approached our party for them to fly the ticket of the ACPN. These candidates were sure of winning the election. But the state party chairman wrote a letter to Osun State Independent Electoral Commission and supported all the candidates of the APC."
