Flooding: Kwara Govt begins Sensitizing Residents On Danger

Date: 2016-08-14

The Kwara State Government has embarked on a sensitization program on the impeding flood to make residents aware of the danger of not hastening to move out of prone areas.

The state government commences the program after been listed among the states likely to feel the impact of this year's flood by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NMA).

The Special Adviser to the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Environmental Services, Manzuma Kawu, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday, he added that the government had been making effort to ensure that those prone to flood attacks are evacuated.

Mr Kawu who gave assurance that the government has provided temporary accommodation for affected communities said he believed that the constant enlightenment by the government would go a long way in ensuring that the people are saved from the flood. He further stated that the traditional rulers of the three local governments mostly affected have been co-operating in the program.
