The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari pays Sallah homage to Governor Bukola Saraki

Date: 2008-12-10

Nigerians have again been charged to continue to live together in peace and harmony for the country to be in unison. Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki made the charge on Wednesday while receiving the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, who paid him a Sallah homage at Government House.

Dr. Saraki, who commended the people of the state for their support and for maintaining law and order, assured that his administration would continue to work hard to uplift their welfare.

While thanking the monarch for his kind words and prayers, he expressed the commitment of his administration to continue to improve the lives of the people positively.

"You have seen what we have done in six years. We have visitors coming from far and near to see what we have been doing in the agriculture sector, power sector etc. I have done my own part and you also have to do your own part", the governor said.

He enjoined those who have been empowered by the State Government to show sufficient commitment to the repayment schedule and assured others that have not benefited to remain patient as it would soon be their turn.

Speaking on the commitment of the State Government to the Independent Power Project at Ganmo, Dr. Saraki explained that his administration took over the project to ensure its speedy completion, pointing out that it is only in Kwara that the power project was not abandoned.

He, however, assured that the project would soon become fully operational to improve incessant power failure in the metropolis.

Earlier, Alhaji Sulu Gambari had praised the administration for its achievements in all the sectors of the economy, expressing appreciation to God for all that has happened in the state through the Governor.

He described the PDP-led government in the state as ‘God sent’ for wiping tears on the faces of the people, urging the governor not to rest on his oars.

"The whole of the Emirate and indeed Kwarans are praying for you and urged you to continue. You have touched the lives of everybody in the State. Ilorin and the entire Emirate are indeed proud of you", the Emir remarked.

He pledged the unalloyed support of the Emirate and all Kwarans for the policies and programmes of the State Government.
