Ahmed, Ajibola Disagree Over Kwara Vocational Centre Project
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Senator Simeon Ajibola, has accused the state government of making bogus claims of achievements in order to win the April 11 election.
Ajibola, who made the accusation while on a campaign tour of Kwara-South district, said it was immoral and fraudulent for Ahmed to list the uncompleted Vocational Studies Centre at Ajasse-Ipo as one of his achievements.
He said, "Apart from refurbishing a few general hospitals, the only project this government can point to is the Vocation and Skill Acquisition Centre at Ajasse-Ipo which is yet to admit one trainee. I understand they are still waiting for the equipment when several millions have been spent".
Ajibola, accompanied by Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman and other party leaders and chieftains, also visited prominent traditional rulers in the area including the Olofa of Offa, among others.
But the state government through the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muideen Akorede, challenged Ajibola to provide evidence of his contributions to the project.
He said: "Once again, we challenge the PDP candidate to provide evidence of his contributions to International Vocational Centre, Ajase Ipo or any other state government funded projects. For the record, the International Vocational Center, Ajase Ipo and the other projects were funded by the state government through bank facilities that have now been repaid.
"Besides, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed won election with a pledge to complete all inherited projects and start new ones".
