Court dissolves marriage over wife's violent temper.

Date: 2014-04-15

An Ilorin Area Court on Monday dissolved the five-year-old marriage between one Fatahi Isiaka and his wife, Saidat, over the latter’s violent temper.

Fatahi, 42, a resident of Baboko Area of Ilorin, prayed the court to dissolve his marriage to Saidat, saying she was too aggressive.

“My wife is too aggressive and gets easily provoked at the slightest provocation. She is always heaping curses on people around her,” he said.

According to him, the marriage was contracted in 2009 and was yet to produce any child.

“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot continue to endure her temperament anymore,” said the complainant.

The defendant did not object to the prayer of her husband, saying she sees no need struggling in an unproductive marriage.

She prayed the court to grant the prayer of her husband without any claim.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff.
