Man held over shop burglary

A 40-year-old driver, Mr. SaliuAyindeAlabi of Adabata Area, Ilorin accused of theft has been remanded at Mandala Prison, IIorin.

The order to remand the accused was made by an llorin Magistrate Court before which he appeared on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, shop breaking and theft.

Trouble began for the accused flowing a complaint at the Area Commander's officer, Ilorin by one Mrs. Olufunke Azeez of Taiwo Road IIorin that the accused with another person broke iatoher shop and 'carted away some items.

Items such as two Ghana-must-go bags each containing 32 pairs of women shoes; one big sack containing 54 pairs of women shoes; two big sacks containing 29 women hand bags; one small generator; one hand bag containing women wears and one women hand bag containing jewelries were alleged to have been stolen by the accused.

Police First Information Report (FIR) alleged that the items were found in the accused vehicle with registration number XK 186AGL, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Inspector Bukola Aina objected to the bail, saying that the offence is not ordinarily bailable. He, therefore, urged the court to remand him at the prison custody.

Magistrate Joel Michael remanded the accused pending the outcome of the police investigation.

The court adjourned the case to May 14, 2012.
