ABS home loss, big setback - TM
The management of Premier League side, ABS FC, has described the 1-3 home defeat it suffered in the hands of visiting Sharks of Port Harcourt on Wednesday as the worst result ever in the history of the modest club.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the encounter played at the Kwara Stadium, Ilorin, Team Manager of the club, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said the heavy home defeat was unfortunate and a big setback to the club's aspiration to finish amongst the top four teams at the end of the season.
Chukwuemeka, who blamed the loss to lack of fitness and psychological imbalance on the side of his young players, promised to look inwards to addressing the problems.
He, however, assured the teeming fans and supporters of the only privately owned club of the readiness of the club to make appreciable impact in the league as well as the Federations Cup.
Meanwhile, the players and officials of the club were on Thursday paid three months' salary arrears, as well as all outstanding bonuses, as a way of bringing back a winning spirit into the team.
Also, the Technical Director of Kwara Football Academy, Paul Ashworth, has been drafted to the team as a observer coach, under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the club and KFA on technical and other development related matters.
Chukwuemeka charged the players and officials to sit up and re-discover their winning streak. The club will take on Kwara United in the final of the state FA Cup competition on Saturday.
