New Kwara CP Warns Policemen Against Corruption

Date: 2012-04-13

The newly-posted Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Chinwike Asadu, has warned officers and men of the command against corruption.

Asadu gave the warning on Wednesday in Ilorin during a visit to the secretariat of the correspondents' chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.

He said the command would arrest and prosecute any of its officers and men who engaged in corrupt practices.

"There is no doubt that corruption is prevalence in our country, but I am happy to say that Police is the only organisation that has continued to fight corruption both within and outside.

"I will continue to fight corruption among my men and I would also not hesitate to deal with whosoever is found guilty," he said.

The commissioner also assured that the command would continue to combat "crimes and criminality" in the state.

He solicited for the support and cooperation of the media in the areas of information dissemination and sensitisation of the public to achieve the objective.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel, Rev. Felix Ajide, assured the police boss of total support from the union members. (NAN)
