First-timers on priority list as Hajj Board slash slots

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced 20 per cent slash in the 2013 Hajj slots earlier given to it by the National Hajj Commission.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Hajia Fatimoh Abolore Jimoh who disclosed this in Ilorin while speaking at a press briefing, said the development was in line with a directive from Saudi Arabia authority that Hajj slots should be reduced worldwide following the ongoing renovation of Holy Kaaba.

She added the aim of the reduction was to ensure that massive reconstruction and remodeling of the Haram is completed in good time in the interest of Muslim Uhmah
Hajia Jimoh said the cut in Hajj slots which affects all countries of the world, was not to witch hurt or blacklist any nation but for the betterment of Muslim Uhmah in general.

According to her, “This is to inform the would-be pilgrims and the general public who may not be aware of the recent happening that we announce a directive from Saudi government of a 20 per cent reduction in slots that have earlier been given to us.

“In this reward, there is a reduction which will cut across all would-be pilgrims. I want assure the would-be pilgrims that the aim of the reduction is to ensure that the massive reconstruction and remodeling of Haram is done and completed in good time to ensure that services to the Muslim Uhmah is in fold.
