The political atmosphere in Kwara State is heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections as Prince Abubakar Suleiman, a Political Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has openly endorsed the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, for the governorship seat.

Suleiman, popularly known across the state as "Sai Kai," made this high-profile declaration during a radio interview in Ilorin on Thursday. He stated that if the governorship ticket is zoned to Kwara North, the Speaker stands out as the most prepared candidate to lead the state.

Citing a combination of character, administrative experience, and deep-rooted community ties, the Governor's aide described Danladi as a leader who truly understands the pulse of the people.

"In my own opinion, I will support Kwara North, and if I am to support Kwara North, I will support the most competent contestant someone that will add value to Kwara, someone who listens and is close to the grassroots. That person is the Right Honourable Speaker," Suleiman affirmed.

When challenged on the radio programme about other heavyweight contenders from the same zone such as Senator Sadiq Umar, who represents Kwara North in the Red Chamber Suleiman maintained his ground. He noted that while others may have their supporters, his preference is based on his personal working knowledge of the Speaker's leadership style.

"It is the person you are close to that you will talk about. I spoke about what I know," he remarked, dismissing claims of being biased against other aspirants.

This endorsement is particularly significant given Suleiman's position within the Governor's inner political circle, and it suggests that internal alignments within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are beginning to solidify even as the debate over zoning continues to dominate the headlines.
