The Kwara State Fire Service has averted a major inferno at Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, located in Idofian Town, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Hassan Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the fire service, said in a statement that the fire originated from the generator house, posing a serious threat to the main radio station building.
He confirmed that the fire was successfully subdued and prevented from spreading to the station's broadcasting facilities, thereby averting what could have been a major media and communications disaster.
Mr. Adekunle added that investigation revealed the fire was caused by a spark from the generator battery, which ignited combustible materials within the generator-house.
