Date: 2024-01-12

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) yesterday implored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give priority to the security of lives and property of Nigerians following the prevailing insecurity in the country, especially Abuja.

The social-cultural organisation in Il?rin Emirate further charged the 36 governors to ensure the stability and progress of the country by providing the needed leadership.

National President of the union, AbdulMumini Ayo AbdulMalik, disclosed this when he led a delegation on a sympathy visit to the patriarch of the Kadriyah family of Masingba Quarters, Ilorin, Shaykh Hassan Kadriyah, on the recent abduction of some members of his family in Abuja.

The six children abducted during the incident last week are still in custody while their father, Alhaji Mansoor Kadriyah, was later released to source for the N60 million ransom demanded by the bandits.

Abdulmalik during the visit explained that the increasing rate of insecurity across the country is becoming pathetic and needs urgent steps to stem the tide.

The retired immigration boss sympathised with Shaykh Kadriyah and members of his family over the development and expressed hope that the victims would soon be released.

He further prayed for the repose of the soul of the victim's uncle who was killed while leading a police rescue team to foil the kidnap.

The community leader encouraged public spirited individuals, particularly well-to-do indigenes of Ilorin Emirate, to support the Kadriyah family in every way possible at this trying time.

Responding, Shaykh Kadriyah thanked the IEDPU president and members of his entourage for identify with the family at this 'critical time' and appealed to the state government and other stakeholders to help in the rescue of the victims.

Daily Trust reports that the bandits had given the family Friday (today) for the payment of the ransom.
