The Chairman of Offa local government of Kwara state has on Tuesday sworn in new members of cabinet which includes the secretary of the local government, supervisors and special assistant on poverty alleviation.

Speaking at the swearing- in ceremony, the chairman of the council Prince Saheed Popoola urged the newly appointed members to be dedicated and ensure that their performance reflects sensitivity to the aspiration of people of Offa and Kwara state in general, while advising them to work together towards restoring confidence in the mind of the people.

According to the chairman, the local government will do all in its capacity to rehabilitate local government roads, provide pipe-borne water and other social amenities in other to improve the standard of living before the expiration of his tenure.

Speaking on security and development, prince popoola highlighted peace and unity as only means of ensuring development. He therefore urged kwarans to be united in other to encourage investors.

Royal Times also reports that the chairman also took the opportunity to remind the newly appointed members not to use the opportunity to enrich themselves at the expense of those they are to serve, but to use the opportunity to contribute their own quota for the common good of the people and public interest.

It will be recalled that Prince Saheed Popoola, the only council chairman elected on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) had last week dissolved Offa local government council cabinet which comprised the secretary to the local government and four supervisory councilors in charge of works ,health, education and agriculture.
