PDP Nat'l leadership backs Oyedepo

Date: 2017-12-01

The leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown it weight behind leadership of Iyiola Oyedepo just as it has declared that the crisis brewing in the Kwara state chapter of the party since it last year botched convention has been put to rest.

This was disclosed yesterday by the party National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye while featuring on Channels Television programme 'Politics Today' which was monitored by this medium.

Adeyeye maintained that the crisis has been resolved in Kwara adding that no member of the party drums beat of war any longer.

He stressed that the congress held in the state that produced it executives was successful and devoid of biases

He added that Osun State is still battling with leadership crisis even as he noted that party members should employ all mean of amicable dialogue to settle it crisis before heading for litigation. He added that court litigations will never aid the growth of the party.

"As for Kwara state, the crisis is resolved I can confidently say that. The allegation that the party will not have a successful convention is just an imagination of some people. Our concern is concerning some of the aspirants, Prof. Adediran and Olabode George, they are patriotic fathers of the party and that is why we are trying to address their issue logically. Our doors are opened to every member of the party; we are ready at all times to attend to any issue bothering on the progress of the party.

As regards the forthcoming national convention, Adeyeye debunked the notion that some party members are planning parallel congresses adding that all efforts are in top gear to ensure that the convention is successful

"There will be no parallel convention. Supreme Court has made it clear that parallel convention should not strive in the party and that judgment is greater than any party member.

"Our members should be concerned about 2019 and the challengers ahead. The convention will go a long way to determine the faith of our democracy in Nigeria. The convention is coming on the 9th December and I can assure Nigerians that it's going to be peaceful.
