National estimate of seven point two trillion naira will soon be passed - NASS

The National Assembly says the national estimate of seven point two trillion naira will soon be passed.

The House of Representatives Deputy Chairman of Committee on Waterways, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Ajanah, disclosed this in a telephone interview with Olayinka Alaya in Ilorin.

Alhaji Kabir Ajana, representing Adavi-Okehi federal constituency of Kogi State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, explained that the National Assembly had broken into committees and had started analysing details of the budget.

According to him, the National Assembly will not waste time to ensure quick passage of the budget to cushion the current economic quagmire.

The lawmaker who is also a member of the House Committee on Telecommunications, said there is cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.

Alhaji Kabir Ajanah, noted that the Federal government would create a road map to complete all inherited water projects across the country, pointing out that the projects would executed in phases due to economic recession.

He stated that the National Assembly is putting emphasis to take Nigeria out of recession by focusing attention on steal, mines and Agricultural sectors.

Alhaji Kabir Ajanah stressed the need to revive the Ajaokuta steel company, calling on local and foreign investors to partner with the federal government to bring back the loss glory of the company.

On the agitation for the increase in National minimum wage by the labour unions, the lawmaker reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to promote the welfare of the workers, saying that the minimum wage would be reviewed once the country come out of the recession.

Alhaji Kabir Ajanah commended the leadership of the National Assembly under Senator Bukola Saraki and Mr. Yakub Dogara for being focused and directive to attain the legislative agenda.
