KWIRS to embark on massive advocacy in 2017

Date: 2016-12-25

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Services has concluded plans to embark on massive advocacy in 2017 to endear the agency to the people of the state and also shore up its revenue generation.

KWIRS Chairman, Dr. Murtala Awodun, disclosed this at the 16th Nigeria Union of Journalists media parliament roundtable organised by the Kwara State chapter of the NUJ in Ilorin.

Awodun, who was represented by the agency's Director of Administration and Communication, Mr. Laken Rotimi, used the opportunity to debunk insinuations that the agency had hiked taxes since coming onboard in October last year.

He said, "KWIRS has done so many unconventional things, which have accounted for the successes we achieved in our one year of existence. However, we have not added a dime on the taxes payable. We've not introduced any new law in the state. Kwara is a land of opportunities and so many untapped taxables abound."
