Prevent your children from joining bad company, principal tells parents
Parents and guardians have been urged to monitor the activities of their children and wards to prevent them from joining bad company. They were also urged to redouble their efforts in giving their children sound, moral, Islamic and western education.
The Principal, Olunlade Junior Secondary School, Ilorin, Mallam Babatunde Bakare gave the advice during the graduation and price giving ceremony of the school. He added that the youths of these days were not ripe enough to be left alone without pathfinders.
He observed further that most present Nigerian youths sleep a lot, play too much and indulge too much in idle chatter and gossip acts. He also urged the students to always remember that everybody was destined to be great but all need to pray and work hard in order to attain the success they were destined for.
Bakare said "let us not forget that everybody can be great and punctuality is the soul of business. If you waste time, time will waste can never be recovered. "To think rightly is to create, to think wrongly is to destroy, never allow yourself to be used to do evil and don't remove struggle to gain the life".
He also appealed to the state government to double its effort in providing the school with some amenities which the school lacked. He noted that the school lacks science and art staff rooms, computers, laptops, printers, photocopy machines, adding that the school desires to also have school bus in nearest future.
The principal also noted that the school was lacking a well equipped library and more befitting classes and called for repair of existing ones which have been dilapidated by licking roof and pot holes.
Other challenges facing the school, according to the principal, include; shortage tables and chairs for teachers, lack of office for vice principal and school councilors, lack of school fence and gates for security purpose, lack of electricity supply, lack of text books for students particularly English and Mathematics, among others.
