NNL: Alebiosu's brace help Kwara United beat Dream FC
Kwara United FC of Ilorin striker, Segun Alebiosu, on Saturday scored a brace to give his team the third straight win in the Nigeria National League.
Kwara United recorded a 3-1 victory over visiting Dream FC of Makurdi. The Week 3 match was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin.
Alebiosu opened scoring in the 22nd minute via the spot kick after Nigeria U-23 striker Taiwo Abdulrahman's shot was blocked with a hand by a Dream FC defender. The visitor equalised five minutes after the host went ahead from an interplay, which Tony Obonogwu tapped home to put the score line at 1-1.
The John Obuh-tutored Kwara United looked shaky for most of the first half but were a better side for most of the proceedings in the second stanza. The Harmony Boys proved they responded to half time team talk than their visitors as Ahmed Jimoh fired home the second goal of the game for United in the 50th minute.
Jimoh dribbled through the defence of Dream FC and placed the ball in the far left of the goalkeeper, making it difficult for him to reach the ball.
Some 12 minutes later, Dream Team XI striker, Abdulrahman, who tormented the visitors while he lasted on the pitch, threw a long pass from the far right to connect Alebiosu who smashed home with his left for his second goal of the game and the fourth this season.
All efforts by Kwara United to add to the tally met brick wall by the resilient Dream FC defenders. Speaking after the game, Obuh thanked God for the victory and said he would take each game as it came.
He also said it was too early to start rolling out the drums, explaining that he would love to lead his group with at least five points and not the current three. The coach also described the deaths of national coaches, Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu, as unfortunate and prayed God to put an end to sudden deaths among Nigerian coaches.
