Makinwa Unveiled As ABS Technical Manager
Former Super Eagles forward, Henry Makinwa was Tuesday unveiled as Technical Manager of a rebranded Abubakar Bukola Saraki, ABS Ilorin FC, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Makinwa signed a two-year contract with the Nigeria National League, NNL side.
Makinwa had an illustrious career that spanned through Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Concord FC of Abeokuta before spells at Rayo Vallecano of Spain, Victorial Setubal of Portugal, Rapid Bucharest of Romania amongst others.
Makinwa holds an UEFA Pro license coaching badge.
Unveiling the coach Tuesday at the club's secretariat in Ilorin, Director of Football, ABS Ilorin FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said Makinwa was picked based on the club's conviction that the former Super Eagles forward has all it takes to lift the club.
"We have spent the last six months looking for a coach that will take this club to the next level and back to the Nigerian Professional Football League.
"We have found this person in Henry Makinwa. His time at Rayo Vallecano playing and coaching will no doubt help the team tactically and he has the full backing of the ABS board to achieve results the fans deserve.
"Under the new arrangement, players and officials' welfare would be given the utmost priority for them to excel and achieve the promotion target," the Director of Football said.
Responding, Makinwa said he was delighted to be appointed and unveiled as the technical manager of the club.
"It is great to come back home to give back to the society what I've learnt abroad as a coach," Makinwa told Completesportsnigeria.com. "I'm not promising heaven on earth, but hard work that can help the club achieve her target of promotion if not this year, then next year."
