FRSC in Kwara arrests 3,747 motorists, records 10 accidents

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Kwara on Tuesday said that it arrested 3,747 motorists for various traffic offences during the last Christmas and New Year.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Sunday Maku, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in llorin that the motorists alleged committed 3,903 offences during the period under review.

Maku said that the motorists were arrested in different parts of the state for offences ranging from refusal to use seat belts, overloading and dangerous overtaking among others.

According to him, 299 motorists were arraigned, 267 were convicted while the remaining were discharged.

The official said that 10 accidents were recorded during the period in some parts of the state, while seven lives were lost. (NAN)
