Gay Rights: Cleric Condemns U.S. Supreme Court Ruling
Pastor Taiwo Ababiaka of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gaa-Odota, Kwara State, has condemned the U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding same-sex marriage as a legal right.
According to the June 26 ruling, the U.S. Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.
Ababiaka who made the condemnation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday, advised the Federal Government to shun that law.
He also advised Nigerians not to associate themselves with such a law, to avoid the wrath of God.
Ababiaka said same sex marriage is not biblical and as such no Christian should believe in that kind of marriage.
He quoted Genesis Chapter 19:24 to remind those who engaged in the practice and the world in general, that the wrath of God came down on Sodom and Gomorrah because of same sex marriage.
"If you look at Genesis 19:24, the Bible says that God rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone because they were practicing gay marriage - man and man were sleeping with themselves.
"This gay marriage is not biblical at all; based on the Bible belief, no Christian, I want to say no Pentecostal Christian, will believe in this kind of marriage.
"We just heard the news that America has just legalised it; it used to be some part of America before, but now 50 states in America are practicing it.
"We should not try it in Nigeria because any city or any country that tries it, God normally destroys that city or that country so that we don't face the wrath of God."
