'Why Saraki deserves Senate Presidency' - Maja

Date: 2015-05-20

Senator Bukola Saraki deserves the position of Senate President in the eighth Senate going by his father's numerous contributions to the political development of Nigeria, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Sulyman Kayode Yusuf has observed.

Yusuf noted that Saraki's father, late Olusola Saraki who was the Second Republic Senate Leader and founder, Northern Union, vigorously pursued a welfarist agenda for the people of Nigeria.

He said Saraki had followed similar path, stressing that his election as the Senate President would bid well for Nigeria.

The APC chieftain who is chairman, Kwara State Local Government Service Commission and an aide of Saraki spoke with newsmen during a special prayer organized for Saraki's Senate presidency bid by leaders and supporters of APC in Oju-Ekun/Zarumi ward of Ilorin West Local Government.

The APC chieftain said the people of Ilorin believe in the efficacy of prayers in the current bid of the state APC leader to lead the senate.

He said Saraki was the most qualified to occupy the seat given the key role he also played in ensuring the victory of APC and the role played by his late father and late strongman of Kwara politics, Dr. Olusola Saraki in Nigeria's politics.

APC chairman in Oju-Ekun/Zarumi ward, Alhaji Suleiman Koleola, said Saraki's supporters believe in his wisdom and leadership qualities to lead the senate successfully if given the opportunity.

In his brief sermon, the Imam of Omoda, Alhaji Mustapha Oloka, said Saraki described Saraki as a force to be reckoned with in the nation's polity through his numerous contributions to the stability of the country.
