Kwara PDP begins moves to weed out moles, sets up 5 c'ttees
Coming out from the shock of its defeat in the last elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has set in motion plans to restructure the party and reposition it to win future elections in the state.
Consequently, the party said it had set up five committees to achieve the repositioning goals, including weeding out moles within the party.
The publicity secretary of the party in the state, Chief Rex Olawoye, said in Ilorin, yesterday, that the party's executive met with stakeholders recently and reviewed performance in the 2015 general elections.
Daily Trust recalls that the party lost its key figures on the eve of elections. Among them were three members of the state executive council, including the secretary, women leader and youth leader.
The party has also failed to win any of the local governments in the governorship election with the All Progressives Congress (APC) sweeping all 24 House of Assembly seats.
It is against this that Olawoye stated that the party would no longer tolerate money bags and self acclaimed influential individuals whose missions were to act as moles for the opposition and weaken the party's electoral strength at critical moments.
He disclosed that PDP has directed local government and ward executives to review the roles and contributions of every party stakeholder with a view to screening out moles within the party.
He explained that the post-election meeting was called to prepare for the 2017 local government elections and the 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
